Just like with Kaito and Lucia’s love story, there’s something that is coming in the middle of both of them and that is the fact that Lucia is a mermaid. And they can’t even refuse their parents properly because there is a signed contract between families that it will happen. My own best friend in real life is being forced to get tied down to her childhood friend so they can further expand their businesses all over the world. If you think this only happens in shows or dramas, you’re wrong. In real life, I’d have to compare this situation with that of an arranged marriage. But they can’t be together because of so many obstacles along the way. Two different people from different worlds altogether, meet and fall in love. This shows the reality of real life society, to be honest. I love the concept of showing a mermaid falling in love with a human but they can’t really be together because of consequences. It’s not really that eye catching story-wise but it flows along nicely and will have little twists along the way. This manga/anime was made for people to enjoy as a simple nostalgic look at our childhoods. Not for the story and not for the logical thinking you’d do for Promised Neverland. So if any of you want to experience an older kind of idol anime, this series is what I would recommend. Being able to attract viewers to sing along and to enjoy themselves to the whole song. In my opinion, that’s what the core of an idol or music anime is all about. Two seasons worth of stories and songs that you can’t help but sing along to because of how catchy it is. Reading the manga now, leaves an honest bad taste in my mouth because of the pacing itself so thank goodness I watched the anime first and it is so worth it. It seemed like they wanted to end it as soon as possible. The setting of the manga, the feel of the characters, the idol fights between the good and bad all of those are too quickly paced in the manga. They’re both too different and I prefer the anime as a whole. I binge watched all of the episodes of the anime and only recently had I come to read the manga. We didn’t have these popular iPhones back then and I didn’t even have an iPad, my family only had a tablet which came with the WiFi back then and that tablet became my main reason for living at that time. The main thing I looked forward to every day so I won’t lose the will to give up was this series. There was a point in time when my whole house had to be renovated and I was really sick. The manga is a really short read but if a viewer wishes to hear one of their performances, the anime is the way to go. As the series progresses, Lucia and Hanon meet more mermaid princesses, more evil sea creatures who get in their way and sing more songs with an encore at times. With this in mind, Lucia shows how much she loves Kaito rather than saying it, all throughout the manga and anime. That if she tries to confess, she will turn into bubbles and disappear. The painful truth that a mermaid cannot love a human. Having saved Kaito again and falling for each other even more, Lucia is filled with happiness but then discovers the painful truth of love from Hanon Hosho, the aquamarine mermaid princess of the South Atlantic Ocean who then turns into the idol, Aqua Pearl Voice. With the last of his strength, Kaito returns the pearl to it’s rightful owner, Lucia, and she transforms into an idol - Pink Pearl Voice. Because of the pearl’s radiant glow, an evil sea creature named Izuru disrupted Kaito’s surfing just to get the pearl and to attract mermaid princesses. However, they soon come to find that the popular surfing champion, Doumoto Kaito, is the boy Lucia has been looking for all this time and he still cherishes and protected her pearl by always keeping it with him. With the help of Hippo’s Pear radar, they try to track down her pink pearl but to no avail, have a hard time finding it. In the anime, this is not the case and their building is changed into a hotel named Pearl Piari. Lucia disguises herself as a human and works at a bath house named Pearl Waters with her guardian, Nikora and second guardian, Hippo. Although it had been a long time, she still carried feelings for him and wanted to meet him again. Nanami Lucia, the mermaid princess of the North Pacific Ocean, mingled with the humans out in the upper world to find her pink pearl that she had given out to her first love, a boy whom she saved when she was younger.
